Day 18. Travel

12 Mar

Anyone can exercise when nothing’s going on in their life, or at the very least they have a consistent schedule. I don’t have that luxury. These next two days I’m gone, and know I’ll fall behind by one day. There will literally be no alone time or place to exercise. I’ll make it up on Sunday by pushing myself more than normal, and not fall behind a day.

With that said, this month has been hard without any travel, and next month it’s nonstop trip after trip. I’m excited to see how these posts, and more importantly the exercise itself is affected.

    Hey Jeremy!
I just found your site when I noticed in my logs that a few folks have visited from here, and I’ve been reading through your back posts. =)
I just wanted to encourage you that you are doing awesome – keep at it!
    1. Regarding the P90x while traveling, I actually wrote an article on this awhile back, or at least the nutrition part of things. Maybe it will help – http://myp90xnutritionplan.com/p90x-nutrition/p90x-nutrition-while-traveling/

When I was originally researching before and after stories and pics about P90x on the beachbody forums, I came across a post where this guy said “It took me 179 days, but I did it!” Basically he traveled and had issues with his schedule where he could not do the 90 days consecutively, but every time he missed a day he just started up the next day in the program as if the miss had never happened. His results were awesome! I thought this was an excellent example of adapting the program for your specific needs, and even more importantly being forgiving of yourself. When it comes down to it, it’s a matter of you just DOING it. The 90 consecutive days would be nice, but doing it at all is more important! The fact is that 90 hour-long workouts with a corresponding change in your diet are going to make a difference in your body, no matter what.

Anyway, I don’t know if this is helpful to you, but I wanted to encourage you and tell you that you are doing awesome, and stay the course, regardless of the roadblocks that appear – whether they come in the form of travel or chocolate cake. The most important thing is that you persevere – “Do your best and forget the rest” right? =)
Have a good one. And thanks again for the link.
    – CJ =)

Thanks CJ. I really do appreciate that. I’m leaving next week for a 12 day carry on only trip to Alaska and 6 other states. While an ice chest is out of the question, your advice for dealing with restaurants is really appreciated.

More importantly – I’m kind of amazed anyone’s reading these at all. I write them for myself to keep myself motivated – yours is the first comment, and while it seems strange – that comment alone was enough to inspire me to push myself and do the Legs & Back workout tonight, even though I already did Yoga this afternoon. So thanks so much.
